Due to COVID-19 Pandemic, the 2020 Get Moving Challenge has been cancelled.
The 2020 Community Get Moving Challenge will begin on April 19. There will not be a Kick-Off event due to COVID-19 concerns. (We have had to cancel the Moonlight Mile).
This year, our 8 week challenge will focus on total wellness for mind, body and soul. Our weekly newsletters will feature articles that address the various concepts of wellness as noted on our logo.
Like past challenges, participants should track their minutes of physical activity and report them to us weekly. They will then be eligible for a prize in our weekly drawings and if they complete seven weeks of activity, they will receive a free Get Moving t-shirt and be eligible for a grand prize.
Anyone may participate for free in this challenge as an individual or as part
of a team. The main purpose of the team is to support and encourage each other in the challenge but there are also team prizes. This year we are encouraging churches to form teams and participate in our Healthy Church Challenge.
In addition, this year we will have a #MindBodySpirit Crusade and a #AwesomeTrails Adventure. With each of these optional challenges, participants post pictures that depict weekly themes or trail of the week on Ephraim McDowell Health’s facebook page (or email to jfluty@emhealth.org to post). Each individual that posts at least 7 pictures will receive a Get Moving running belt/fanny pack.
Registration forms are available now at McDowell Wellness Center and at information desks in each of the Ephraim McDowell Hospitals as well as Danville Bike & Footwear and Bunny Davis Recreation Complex.
You may also download the Get Moving Registration Form here.
Registration forms may be dropped off at McDowell Wellness Center any time. Packets with instructions, log and other information will be available April 1.
We depend on community business donations of prizes and t-shirt sponsorship to make this challenge free for all participants so please spread the word that donations are needed. Contact Janet Fluty at jfluty@emhealth.org or call (859) 936-7225 regarding donations or with any questions.
